From indoors to outdoors: how our passion for wicker grew into a leading outdoor brand, read our story here.
1993
Originally started as a wicker specialist for indoor furniture, Apple Bee made the official switch to its own brand of outdoor furniture in 1998.
1995
In 1995, the terraces were full of rattan chairs. The atmosphere of those chairs was enormously attractive and sought after. The disadvantage of rattan is that the material deteriorates quickly. Therefore, we developed a wicker that resembles rattan but is made of durable material that lasts a long time and is also recyclable. A revolution in its time.
1998
In 1998, the official switch was made to an outdoor furniture brand of their own. The garden furniture brand Apple Bee with a unique design from Dutch soil was born!
2003
With our knowledge of indoor furniture, in 2003 we were one of the first to launch a genuine outdoor armchair as an addition to the garden chairs that were common at the time. Unique to this product were our special weather-resistant Bee Wett® cushions. The Bee Wett® cushion filling has an open cell and weave structure that prevents moisture absorption and ensures perfect drainage. This technology is still highly valued today.
2006
In 2006 came yet another revolutionary invention: the beginning of “create your own set-up” with the introduction of the “Elements” modular lounge set. Garden furniture can therefore be used in the garden in an increasingly dynamic way.
2008
In 2008 came the introduction of the first lounge-dining concept with the collection Two Ways. The 2 functionalities of lounging and dining are fine in combination!
2012
Wave for the winning! The collection manages to win 3 awards, including the Sanoma audience award, the Sanoma professional jury award and the B3 Design & Innovation award. The innovative design builds on a tradition of braiding with willow branches but now with modern materials aluminum and Biculair® wicker. Fine handwork results in an airy, recognizable and comfortable piece of furniture - according to the jury.
2018
Apple Bee is growing at the seams and moving the office and warehouse in Breda to a double-sized building in Dongen.
2022
In 2022, Apple Bee took the step of collaborating with external designers for the first time. This collaboration brought fresh ideas and new perspectives to our team, leading to unique and innovative designs that further enrich and renew our collection.
2023
In 2023, Apple Bee will be exhibiting for the 25th consecutive year at Spoga in Cologne, one of the largest and most influential garden furniture trade fairs in the world. Every year, we present our latest collections and innovations here, continuing to share our passion for design and quality with colleagues and customers. This milestone underscores our position as a reliable and established player in the outdoor furniture industry.
2025
The Cocoon is a true icon within our collection and will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2025. As our longest-running collection, the Cocoon symbolizes timeless design, comfort, and quality. For a quarter of a century, this collection has offered a unique combination of elegance and durability, inspiring generations of customers.

The beautiful design of the Camp Bay Dining Armchair won the prestigious DOFAS Design Award in 2025! This swivel chair is extremely comfortable and chic with its tone-on-tone color scheme and can even be used as a lounge chair.

Sako Wijma, designer and co-owner of Apple Bee, loves pure lines. Form follows function, so that functionality remains leading. The design serves that purpose. Which is not to say that there should be no fun in the design; quite the contrary! But always embedded in an overall picture of tranquility and balance, in which the power of the lines is preserved.
